What do you have in common with an Olympic champion? More than you might think!
This October, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is running the Go for gold. Give plasma campaign to encourage Australians to donate, as part of International Plasma Awareness Week.
Australia needs more plasma donations every year to help people who rely on these treatments.
Some of Australia's biggest Olympic stars, including Michael Klim, Cathy Freeman, Ian Thorpe, Cate Campbell and Cooper Woods, have joined the campaign to help spread the word.
Thinking about donating plasma for the first time? Take a moment to check your eligibility before you get started.
Donate plasma and get involved
Plasma is often called the liquid gold in your blood, and it's Australia's most-needed blood donation.
In fact, Australia needs a plasma donation every 33 seconds.
Plasma can be used in 18 different life-saving ways, including helping people with:
immune system conditions
bleeding disorders
neurological conditions
burns and serious injuries.

No training, fitness tests or medals needed!
If you're eligible to donate, whether it's your first time or have donated before, you can help make a difference.
Your plasma donation could help someone get back to doing what they love or spend more time with family and friends.
