Enrolment Events

If you receive an offer to study with TAFE SA most students will be emailed enrolment details to self register into classes.

For some specific courses, students may be invited to attend an Enrolment Event.
It is at that Enrolment Event that those students will be given their information to register. These Enrolment Events may be held at a TAFE SA campus or online.

The following Information will help guide you through the Enrolment Event process.

 
  • If you receive an offer for a course that requires an Enrolment Event, you will receive an email from TAFE SA advising of the time, date and details for your Enrolment Event.

    If you are unable to attend, please contact 1800 882 661 as soon as possible.
  • Depending on your course you will be invited to attend either an On Campus, Online or Phone Counselling event. At your event you will receive pre-enrolment information, an individual training plan, your timetable, registration information, fee information and payment options along with some general information about TAFE SA.

    To successfully complete your enrolment process you are required to provide Photo ID displaying your current residential address. Acceptable sources of evidence include:
    • Current driver’s licence or learner’s permit
    • Current proof of age card (issued by Services SA)
    • Current Australian Passport in conjunction with evidence of residential address
    • Current School Student Card issued by the school where you are currently enrolled (in conjunction with evidence of residential address if address in not identified on School Card)
    On Campus events are usually held at the campus you will be studying at and once you have met with your lecturer TAFE SA staff will be available to help you register and assist with any other questions. You must bring Photo ID to your event to successfully participate and enrol. You may also bring any academic transcripts (results) from TAFE SA or other training providers and if you are eligible, VET Student Loan evidence. You will need your USI (Unique Student Identifier) and if applicable, your current concession card and Job Seeker ID to register at your event.

    Online events are held online using your own computer or device. You will meet your lecturer and TAFE SA staff will be available to assist with any questions, however you will need to register online using myTAFE SA at a time convenient to you or by attending a separate Registration Drop-in Session. You will need your USI (Unique Student Identifier) and if applicable, your current concession card and Job Seeker ID to register. If you have any academic transcripts (results) from TAFE SA or other training providers you should have these ready to discuss with your lecturer during your event. You are also required to bring your Photo ID to a campus prior to commencing your study.

    Phone Counselling events are held on an individual basis with your lecturer. You will receive a call, possibly from a private number, at the scheduled time. If you have any academic transcripts (results) from TAFE SA or other training providers you should have these ready to discuss with your lecturer. Your lecturer will not assist you to register and you will need to register online using myTAFE SA at a time convenient to you or by attending a separate Enrolment Drop-in Session. You will need your USI (Unique Student Identifier) and if applicable, your current concession card and Job Seeker ID to register. You are also required to bring your Photo ID to a campus prior to commencing your study.

    For all event types it is important to familiarise yourself with the required documentation. For further information about these requirements including how to get a USI please follow the links below:
  • Online events are held online using Blackboard Collaborate and completed using your own computer or device. Once you are booked into your event you will receive a confirmation email containing your login details.

    To take part in an online event, you are required to:
    • use a reliable device such as a laptop or desktop computer (although not recommended a tablet/phone is also an option)
    • have a strong and reliable internet connection
    • have access to Google Chrome (preferred), Safari or Mozilla Firefox
    It is recommended you:
    • login 10 minutes prior to your session to get settled and navigate the Blackboard Collaborate platform
    • have a working webcam, microphone and speakers
  • After you have attended course counselling with your lecturer you will be required to register online using the registration platform, myTAFE SA. Please note if you attended an online or phone counselling event you will be sent an email containing the details necessary to register online.

    When registering through myTAFE SA you will be required to provide your USI (Unique Student Identifier) and if applicable, your current concession card and Job Seeker ID.

    Resources are available on the TAFE SA website to assist you to register at your own pace and a time convenient to you.

    • Why do I need to attend?
      You need to attend so you receive the correct information and can move through to the next steps of your offer and start your course.

      Does it cost anything to attend?
      No, Enrolment Events are free to attend. There may be associated costs such as parking for Adelaide and Adelaide College of the Arts campuses.

      How long does an event take?
      Enrolment Events can take up to 3 hours to cover all the components that the event entails. We need to provide you with as much information as possible so you can make an informed decision before you commence your study.

      Can I leave early / can I arrive late?
      You will need to attend at the designated start time to ensure you receive all of the necessary information. You may be able to leave early if needed, after you have received all of the information and/or been counselled by your lecturer to enable you to register as soon as possible after your event.

      What happens if I can’t attend?
      In the event you are unable to attend please reschedule at least 48 hours prior to your event time, either by accessing your existing booking using the portal link in your confirmation email or by contacting 1800 882 661. You are encouraged to attend your event within 2 weeks of receiving your offer. Delays in booking attending may impact event availability and the overall enrolment process. 

      Can I ask questions at my event?
      Yes, absolutely! This is a great place to bring any questions you may have about your course and studying with TAFE SA.

      Can I bring someone with me?
      If you have a verified disability/medical condition and require additional support at your event please contact Student Success and Wellbeing prior to attending. You can book an appointment online or by calling TAFE SA Customer Support on 1800 882 661. If you are under 18 you may have a support worker, parent or guardian accompany you.

      Do I get to see my classroom(s)?
      At your event you will receive your timetable and we recommend that you have a look around the campus at the completion of your event to see where your classrooms or workshops are located. You can also access a campus map on the TAFE SA website.

      What if I am not sure that I want to do this course?
      That’s okay! We recommend that you attend an event anyway so that you can see if it is the right course for you and decide from there.

      Is an Enrolment Event an orientation?
      No, if your course has an orientation, it will most likely be covered when you commence your course.

      How do I access additional support?

      Student Success and Wellbeing are available to discuss your concerns related to health, disability and other issues by booking an appointment via the TAFE SA Student Website – Disability Support . If you think you may require individual assistance, we recommend that you connect with us at least 7 days prior to your event.
    • Can I register into my course before my event?
      The information you receive at your event will be used for your registration. You need to speak to your lecturer before registering to ensure you are registering into the correct subjects. Some students may need to be individually counselled to confirm their training plan, depending on previous study.

      Can I register online?
      Yes, you can register online after you have attended an event.

      Can I register on my on my phone?
      Yes, you can, but we recommend you use either a computer/laptop or iPad/tablet, as student system profile may be hard to navigate on your phone.

      When can I see my timetable?
      Your schedule/timetable will be provided at your event by your lecturer but not beforehand as they will go though it will you.

      When does my course start?
      Courses have varying start dates, these dates will be confirmed at your event, but generally Semester 1 courses will commence in late January/early February. Semester 2 courses usually commence in late July/early August. Visit the TAFE SA Website for key dates.
    • Am I eligible for subsidised funding?
      For courses that are listed as subsidised, criteria must be met to receive that funding. To see if you are eligible visit the TAFE SA Website or for further information, including visa eligibility please visit the Skills SA Website.

      Am I eligible for a VET Student Loan (VSL)?
      The VET Student Loans program is designed to give eligible students access to quality higher level VET qualifications, particularly those students who could not otherwise afford to pay upfront. Visit the TAFE SA Website check your eligibility and find out more about VET Student Loans.

      Can I apply for my VET Student Loan at my Enrolment Event?
      At your event your intention to apply for a VET student loan can be recorded, this will commence the process and you will be contacted by our VET student loan team within 5 days with more information. You may also bring evidence for your VET Student Loan to your event so that it can be sighted and copied by our team to get the process started.
    • I can't hear anything. How can I adjust the volume?
      You can adjust your speaker volume in My Settings.

      How do I turn my microphone/camera on?
      You can turn your microphone and camera on using the buttons in Session Tools. If you are unable to locate the buttons the presenter may have disabled them. If you have a question or need help click on the ‘Hands Up’ button.

      Where can I download Google Chrome?
      You can download Google Chrome here.

      Where can I find my login details?
      Your login details can be found in your booking confirmation email.

      Who can I contact if I experience difficulty logging in?
      If you experience any problems when trying to enter the online session, please contact 1800 882 661.
