Adelaide Literacy and Numeracy students from the SEE (Skills for Education and Employment) program put their learning into action by hosting a Bright Jumpers fundraiser for Treasure Boxes, an organisation that supports babies and children in crisis.
Using skills developed in the classroom, students wrote letters and emails, created schedules and designed promotional posters to help organise the event. Their hard work was rewarded with an overwhelming response from TAFE staff and students, who generously donated money, nappies, clothing and other essential baby supplies.
Treasure Boxes Executive Manager, Rajini Vasan, visited the students to collect the donations and explain how their efforts would make a real difference in the community. Along with the funds raised, piles of nappies, baby clothes and other much-needed supplies were donated to support local families in crisis.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, an impressive $558.36 was raised, enough to provide practical support for up to 21 children or families in crisis.
The fundraiser was a wonderful example of students using their skills to create a positive impact and support those in need.
