Meet Izzy, the cuddliest retiree on campus

Aug 20, 2026

Another adorable greyhound is currently looking for her forever home through TAFE SA's veterinary training program.

As part of her time with PETSinTuition, this retired racing greyhound has been spending time on campus getting used to everyday life. From meeting new people, exploring different environments to learning the skills she'll need to become a relaxed family pet.

Now she's ready for her next adventure: finding a home with someone who's happy to trade a bit of couch space for a very loyal companion.

Meet Izzy the greyhound:

Age: 3 years

Sex: Female

Desexed: Yes

Izzy is a cuddly, affectionate, quiet and gentle girl who adores people and wants to say hello to everyone she meets, though she's respectful and patient about it. She's playful, loves her toys and enjoys a short zoomie or walk. Out and about she's active and curious, but back in her kennel she's happily lazy. Izzy had a significant leg break during her racing career, so she now has a plate in her front left leg and walks with a permanent limp. It doesn't stop her doing everything a dog is meant to do, but it does come with a few restrictions worth talking through.

Good to know about Izzy:

  • Cuddly, gentle and quietly affectionate
  • Best suited to a quiet home where exercise isn't heavy, or is more controlled
  • Still loves an excursion to see new people and explore
  • Has a plate in her front left leg from a racing injury and walks with a permanent limp - contact us to discuss her restrictions
  • Still learning about other breeds and polite greetings, and will need continued training after adoption
  • Best suited as an only dog, or with an independent and tolerant medium–large dog
  • Suitable for apartments or small yards
  • Children aged 10+, solely because of her racing injury
  • No pocket pets or cats
