Meet Your New Best Fur-end. Adopt a Greyhound.

Jun 03, 2026

Two more adorable greyhounds are currently looking for their forever homes through TAFE SA's veterinary training program.

As part of their time with PETSinTuition, these retired racing greyhounds spend time on campus getting used to everyday life. From meeting new people, exploring different environments to learning the skills they’ll need to become relaxed family pets.

Now they’re ready for their next adventure: finding a home with someone who’s happy to trade a bit of couch space for a very loyal companion.

Meet the greyhounds currently up for adoption:

Poppy

Age: 4 years

Sex: Female

Desexed: Yes

Poppy is a calm, gentle and cuddly girl looking for a quiet, settled retirement life. She's not a fan of changes to her routine. She adores people and is an expert leaner when it comes to getting pats and cuddles (she's also a bit of a hugger, though she's working on keeping four paws on the floor). Poppy loves playing with other dogs and has a special best friend at the clinic named Billy.

Good to know about Poppy:

  • Calm, gentle and deeply affectionate
  • Beautiful loose-lead walker, though can pull when she wants to be in front
  • Good with other dogs and breeds, but still learning how to play with small dogs off lead
  • Does not like confinement so crate training not recommended
  • Prefers a small to large backyard, though a large apartment would also be fine
  • Needs a medium–large tolerant doggy companion to cope with full-time working hours
  • Has had a front toe amputated due to a grass seed wound
  • Children aged 8+, as loud noises and routine changes can cause anxiety
  • Untested with pocket pets and cats

 Florrie

Age: 4 years

Sex: Female

Desexed: Yes

Florrie is an excitable, cuddly and affectionate girl who adores people and wants attention from everyone she meets. She'll lean on you to demand cuddles. Watch out for that helicopter tail when she's happy! She's a bit of a foodie and loves to be around people even off lead. Florrie also has a playful side, doing little spins of excitement during play.

Good to know about Florrie:

  • Loving, people-focused and full of personality
  • Beautiful loose-lead walker, though can pull when she spots a small dog or cat
  • Good around other dogs but can be defensive of her personal space at times
  • Still learning polite greetings with small dogs and will need continued training after adoption
  • Best suited as an only dog, or with an independent and tolerant medium–large dog
  • Suitable for apartments or small yards
  • Children aged 5+
  • No pocket pets or cats
