Celebrating World Health Day - 7 April

World Health Day April 2026 x TAFE SA

World Health Day is on the 7th of April, and the theme for 2026 is Global Action for Universal Health Coverage. This is all about making health care accessible for everyone. Universal Health Coverage means people can access the healthcare they need without cost getting in the way. Whether that’s a checkup, treatment, or longer term support.

We are playing out part here at TAFE SA. Our student run clinics offer real services to the community while giving students hands on experience.

Affordable Services for the Community

TAFE SA’s student run clinics give the community access to low-cost (and sometimes no cost) services while helping students build real world skills.

  • Dental Clinic: Students provide free dental hygiene treatments under supervision, making preventive oral care easier to access.

  • Hair & Beauty Salons: You can enjoy affordable services delivered by students gaining hands-on experience. This includes haircuts, colour, tanning, waxing, manicures and spa treatments.

These services help reduce financial barriers and support community wellbeing. This is exactly what universal health coverage is all about.

Library Support for Future Professionals

The TAFE SA Library plays a key role in supporting students as they study. It provides the resources they need to gain qualifications in health, beauty and community services.

Students can access:

  • Current books and articles on a wide range of topics from experts
  • Study materials and guides to help them learn
  • Quality training videos
  • One on one support
  • Equipment, including hairdryers, straighteners, and nail drills. This helps remove or reduce financial barriers to gain qualifications

The library gives students the resources they need to learn, practise and grow. This helps improve the quality of care delivered in TAFE SA’s clinics.

World Health Day reminds us that health is a right, not a privilege.
At TAFE SA, every small step we take, through our clinics, library support, and student learning, helps make healthcare more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
