Wear It Purple Day is an annual LGBTIQ+ awareness day, held on the last Friday in August, where supporters unite to celebrate and increase visibility to rainbow young people by wearing purple. The focus is to give pride, empower and advocate equality of well-being for rainbow young people, and create supportive, safe and inclusive environments.
The theme for this year is Bold Voices, Bright Futures, and at TAFE SA, we align with the Wear It Purple Day principles:
For this year, we’re exploring interest in forming a Student Rainbow Alliance – a student-led group where LGTBIQA+ students can connect, support each other, and share feedback with TAFE SA. The idea came from Student Voice members and will be supported by our Staff Rainbow Alliance.
There are many ways to be part of a movement that has the potential to save thousands of lives:
Whether you identify as LGBTIQA+ or as an ally, Wear It Purple Day is a chance to stand together and say: you belong here.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands on which TAFE SA stands.
