Equity for all. Period.

TAFE SA is committed to supporting student wellbeing—and that includes tackling period poverty on campus.

We are installing free pad and tampon dispensers in all female and unisex/gender-neutral bathrooms across our campuses.

According to the Bloody Big Survey 2024, 64% of respondents have struggled to afford period products. That shouldn't stop anyone from attending class, staying healthy, or feeling confident. Access to period products isn’t a luxury—pads and tampons are essential hygiene products, just like toilet paper or soap.

At TAFE SA, we believe no one should miss out on learning because of their period.

We are thrilled to announce that installation of free pad and tampon dispensers across ten of our campuses is nearly complete:

  • Adelaide
  • Adelaide College of the Arts
  • Tonsley
  • Gilles Plains
  • Noarlunga
  • Salisbury
  • Whyalla and our Whyalla Child Care Centre
  • Port Augusta
  • Port Pirie
  • Mount Gambier

Next, we will be installing dispensers across all our other campuses and training sites in Phase 2.

Phase 2 campuses:

  • Elizabeth
  • Kadina
  • Port Lincoln
  • Port Lincoln Child Care Centre
  • Ceduna
  • Barossa
  • Berri
  • Mount Barker
  • Murray Bridge
  • Victor Harbor
  • Tea Tree Gully Child Care Centre
  • Coober Pedy

We are also working on installing dispensers through a partnership at non-TAFE SA-owned sites, including:

  • City West Child Care Centre
  • Urrbrae
  • Wudinna
  • Narunnga
  • APY Lands

Period poverty is an issue we can fix together. Students at our campuses are encouraged to take what they need from our dispensers.

Equity for all. Period.
