Covid19 Response During Lockdown

Jul 20, 2021

To our student community,

With South Australia going into lockdown from 6pm 20/07/21 (for seven days), I wanted to provide you with a further update about our COVID-19 response which continues to be guided by the direction provided by SA Health:

  • All course delivery will move to digitally enabled delivery – your lecturers will provide you with information about your course and any next steps that are required.
  • If you are unable to access the digitally enabled delivery TAFE SA will make provisions so you are not disadvantaged at the end of the lock down period.
  • All TAFE SA campuses will not be accessible, including Library and Student Hub spaces, however most services will be available online. Enrolment and orientation events are currently being transitioned to an online mode, please keep watching your TAFE SA email for updates.
  • You can access the latest TAFE SA COVID-19 information via the TAFE SA website.

As a result of the state-wide lockdown there will be changes to student work placements - this only applies to students who have a work placement component as part of their course.

  • If you are a student who is currently on a work placement, you need to stop your work placement, return home, and follow the lockdown restrictions. Your work placements will be paused throughout the lockdown period.  We will work with you to make alternate arrangements.
  • Any work placements that were due to commence this week will be deferred until further notice.
  • We will provide further updates to students who are currently on or were about to commence work placements about when placements will recommence.
  • We will also be communicating with all host employers.

I know the current situation is moving very quickly and this can be really challenging.

  • Remember to check your TAFE SA email and the student website for the latest updates.
  • Please keep in contact with your colleagues over the next week especially.  It is important that we all take care of each other through these extraordinary times.
  • We have a range of support services available to students online, available through our Student Counselling website.

If you are unwell or have been to any of the exposure sites, get tested and isolate.

I can assure you that keeping you safe and informed is our priority.

We will continue to regularly update you on our response.

Take care and stay safe,

David Coltman
Chief Executive
